Google Play banner indicate it’ll be selling audiobook soon


While maximum people think of Google Play as their market to download apps and games for their Android device. This is a home for a lot of other content. Google Play includes movies, TV shows, music, books, comics, and more. Now, however, it appears audiobook are being added to that list.

Tonight a Most users have noticed a banner in Google Play which simply states that audiobooks are now available on Google Play. At the launch time, the link does not work and just 404’s, but it seems to be appearing for all users both on the web and in the Google Play app on Android.

There is no indication of when Google actually plans to live audiobooks in the store. But it certainly looks like it will be soon. To celebrate the arrival, Google’s banner also mentions a deal which gets 50% off the 1st audiobook you buy.

Google Play music library does host a collection of audiobooks, but the implementation has always felt like a few sloppy. I hope to have a specific hub for purchasing audiobooks on Play will help. But it remains to be seen how they’ll be accessed. For now, we will have to wait and see.
