Vuzix has been producing smartglasses for years, but an upcoming model will be more special. According to Bloomberg, the New York-based company is introducing the 1st Alexa-enabled AR (augmented reality) glasses at CES 2018. You will clearly be able to ask Alexa queries the way you normally do. And also the glasses will show the results on the display à la Google Glass. For example, if you ask Alexa for directions. The glasses can display a map on the AR screen, until you have an Amazon account. The company said the publication that it was excited about the device’s “ability to bring Alexa to customers in a new way.”

When it opened up the voice assistant’s technology, this device represents the future Amazon envisioned for Alexa. Just recently, Alexa gained the ability to talk to microwaves and electric vehicles. And you can apparently expect the list to grow even further. The e-commerce titan also released a mobile accessory kit, making it simple for developers to offer their Bluetooth headphones and wearables the power to use the voice-controlled service.

If a pair of shades that can speak to Alexa sounds the most interesting of the bunch You will have to be ready to shell out $1,000 for them. Vuzix chief Paul Travers knows that is a much high price tag. But the company hopes to be able to sell them for under $500 by 2019. He believes that “everyone is going to bring with [Alexa-enabled] glasses sooner or later”. So the company’s offering must be at a competitive price.
