Microsoft’s store appearing in Original Xbox backward compatibility games

Game News

Microsoft revealed at E3 earlier this year that the Xbox One will be backwards compatible with some original Xbox games. It appears the feature is ready to launch, as original Xbox games ar currently showing in Microsoft’s “games on demand” section of the Xbox marketplace. Star Wars: Knights of the previous Republic, Neowave: The King of Fighters, prince of Persia, Red Faction two, BloodRayne two, and Dead to Rights are all available within the store, priced from $9.99 or more.

While you’ll buy digital copies of those titles, they’re still not showing up within the Xbox One dashboard. This might mean the feature requires a dashboard update, or that Microsoft still needs to officially flick a turn on server side. Either way, Microsoft has previously promised that original discs will work with the backward compatibility. The games follow a leaked list over the weekend that appears to detail all the 1st titles which will be available on Xbox backwards compatibility. Twitter user WalkingCat posted the following list:

  • Bloodrayne 2
  • Crimson Skies
  • Dead to Rights
  • Fuzion Frenzy
  • Grabbed by the Ghoulies
  • Neowave: The King of Fighters
  • Ninja Gaiden Black
  • Pirates!
  • Prince of Persia
  • Psychonauts
  • Red Faction II
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

It’s not clear exactly when original Xbox games will be available on the Xbox One, but Xbox chief Phil Spencer recently revealed the company was “really close” to launching the feature
