Because BBM still exists
Uber is currently available on BBM (BlackBerry Messenger). Because apparently, there’re still more people in the world who use the service. BBM’s popularity has plummeted in Western markets thanks to the rise of WhatsApp, iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and other services. But it still has a presence in developing countries. TechCrunch notes that this feature is available in select countries in Africa, North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
To use this service, you just open your BBM app and then open the ‘Discover’ menu where there is an Uber Ride icon. tap on that and sign in, where you will be able to request an Uber ride. This BBM partnership is the latest in Uber’s crusade to integrate with every popular app out there; for example, Uber is also integrated with the Facebook messenger.
